A group of about five of us will be doing a fairly easy 4 mile long backpacking trip up the South Fork of the Kaweah River to a little visited grove of Giant Sequoias (the South Fork Grove) this coming weekend.
It will be a bit chilly, but we'll build a nice fire. Temperatures should be in the 50s during the day and upper 20s at night, so bring appropriate layers, sleeping pad, and bag. Expect snow free trail conditions and about a 2,000 ft. gain in altitude.
I'll be driving up after work on Friday night and spending the night at another tribe member's place in Three Rivers. Saturday we'll hike in and Sunday we'll hike out in time to catch the StupidBowl Game in Three Rivers. I have room in my vehicle, if you want to carpool from L.A.. If you need any equipment, just let me know. I have plenty of extra equipment that you may borrow for the trip.
So, if anyone wants to tag along, please contact me via tribe message.

Mon, February 12, 2007 - 12:00 PMWell, we had a great time in a beautiful setting. Johnny even posted some photos on the backpacking and So. Cal. Hiking tribe.
In fact, I'm considering heading back up there this coming weekend....
